What I do when my inner “doomsday prophet” gets noisy (and what’s next for TKG) Twenty-five minutes ago I was ready to run a scorched earth campaign on my whole business. Yesterday started like a totally normal day: Woke up at 7am, read Mistborn: The Final Empire on the couch until that last possible second, got my kids out the door to school, grabbed a second shot of espresso and headed to my desk with an armful of beverages, pulled a card from The Wild Unknown, filled out my morning journal, then opened my task manager to officially start the “real” work. (Ha!) Almost the moment I opened ClickUp it was clear something was up. Only two tasks were showing as due: a short promo sequence plus a reminder to check the conversion rate on an opt-in page I’m optimizing. Both seemed too hard for a Monday, definitely meaningless, not worth doing, what kind of dummy assigned this to me anyway?!?! The doomsday prophet that lives in my head was having a party. Instead of doing what I know works, which is to back away from the desk and do something creative or nature-based to bring my brain back online, I drew exclusively from my well of masculine energy (which is deep!): FIGHT THROUGH! TRY ANOTHER ANGLE! DO MORE THINGS! SOLVE THE PROBLEM! ← All wonderful and important abilities except that I was not actually at war and the “problem” was entirely in my head. Spoiler: it did not help. The day was a dizzying mess of fraud notifications, two missed deliveries, a kid home sick, and hours on the phone arguing about an unauthorized Airbnb charge. When I woke up this morning and the doomsday prophet was still at it — I needed a new approach, obviously. I dropped my kids at school and went to the forest. A few minutes of kicking fallen leaves around on the familiar path through the forest, and the voices began to quiet. Once again, I could hear the voice of wisdom. …including what to say in this email. (Yes, all that was just the intro. I know you can relate so I won’t be trimming it out.) I want to share our plans for the next few months, what we’re working on, ways you can work with us, and a project you might want to get involved in. This November my team and I are working with Marisa Corcoran on a summit we’re hosting in Spring 2026, The Girlboss Apology Tour. I am so excited and energized about this event, which will include interviews with the most famous internet marketing stars in my rolodex, a healing circle, and opportunities to be LIVE TOGETHER (community!!!), sifting and sorting through the confusing world of online business, so you can find your way ahead. If you think you might be a fit to participate in the summit, you can apply here. I’m also hauling ass on my book proposal. My writing coach Suzy Vadori says I have to query my book before Thanksgiving or forget about it until the new year, so I’m setting aside time to get that done too. Subscribers loved Girlboss, Interrupted as a title, so that’s what I’m going with in my pitch. It feels a bit uncomfortable to lean so heavily on this gendered term, but women take advice from bro marketers all the time, why can’t men take advice from girlbosses? (Guys! Please weigh in. You are welcome here and I want to hear from you.) In December we’ll be running Email Stars Speed Round—six hours of live training over four calls in two weeks. This is the last time we’ll be offering Email Stars and I want to get it into as many hands as possible. It has made many careers and serves as a reference library for many of your favorite copywriters and digital course creators. If you want to bookmark it, the call times are: Tuesday, Dec. 2nd @ 10:30am ET All past students will be invited to participate. We’re still deciding the price, but it will likely be the best price we’ve ever offered it at. Email marketing is the engine that drives every online business I’ve ever come across, no matter what else they’re doing on social, their podcasts, or whatever. I want to transfer my knowledge of email marketing in the most efficient way possible, and move on to my next thing (more on that in a sec). Email Stars Speed Round is also a chance for me to flex some of the facilitation skills I’ve learned in my months of training with xchange. It will not be like other courses you’ve attended. You’ll have a chance to experience “active learning,” make some new friends with similar goals, and lay a critical foundation for selling online. What next? Glad you asked. Next year we’ll be focused on a new offer that I think is going to be called The School of Consent-Based Business. I’m still conceptualizing how to deliver this material based on what I know works with online learning (and what definitely doesn’t). It’s part of a larger transition from “teaching” to “facilitating learning.” I feel energy gathering around this project, especially when I take the time to deeply tune into my mission by channeling more feminine energy — trying to “catch” songs (i.e. write them myself), dancing to my favorite albums, playing Kim Krans’ Renunciation Game with my 7yo, doodling in the Yoni Art colouring book I got from a client back in 2017. (Still delivers!! See below for links to all of that.) Taking time for those things has a huge pay-off. The path forward is slowly revealing itself, one step at a time. When we plan more than six weeks out, I notice my doomsday prophet gets noisier, so I try to focus on what’s right in front of me vs. all the things that could go wrong but haven’t yet. I send prayers to my brother Quentin to please light the way. He is a lighthouse I look toward every day. It has been six months since his death, which brought about so much change that some days I hardly recognize my life. The grief is heavy, but it sits side-by-side with my joy. I want to tell you more but we’re approaching the 1000-word mark. And I want to know what YOU are excited about! What gets you out of bed at 6am to take notes on the amazing ideas that are coming to you? Tell me about it. I’m all ears. And don’t let false prophets tell you that everything is pointless and none of your ideas matter. It’s not pointless, and it does matter. When in doubt, seek the forest. It has so many answers.
